Society Hires First Full-Time Museum Professional

The Historical Society of Cecil County has hired its first full-time professional to oversee its library and museum.  Eric Jodlbauer, a graduate student at Washington College, who was previously employed by the Historical Society of Delaware, is assuming the position of Manager of Collections, during a time when the organization is experiencing significant growth.  As the nonprofit whose mission is to showcase, promote, and preserve the images, events, and stories of Cecil's past prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2006, it has seen its membership soar well past 1,000 supporters as a result of enhanced public outreach and the strengthening of its research resources.

The position was crated in response to the nonprofit's growth, the need to offer more public and educational programming, and to fully catalog the extensive holdings of the group.  Jodlbauer, who was also a volunteer with the Society, is charged with the development of exhibits, conservation of objects, training of volunteers, and the cataloging of the extensive collections in the museum and library.
