History Comes to Life on May 1st  -- Abraham Lincoln to Speak at Society

History will come back to life during a fascinating performance by Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War leader, on Saturday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Elkton.  Being presented by the Historical Society of Cecil County at its library at 135 E. Main Street, the 16th President, dressed in his trademark stovepipe hat, long dark coat and beard, will present a theatrical performance, talking about almost everything during his eventful life from his humble beginnings to his assassination in a playhouse, and almost anything in between.

In real life, the engaging actor is Christian Johnson, a portrayer of the wartime leader, who has appeared at places such as the Library of Congress.  During the performance of about one-hour he will pepper his presentation with humor, stories, and factual history, focusing on the events of his life.  Following the talk, Johnson, who has a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of the man who saved the union, will maintain the persona as he fields questions from the audience, and makes himself available for photographs.

The cost for the program is $5 for adults in advance or $7 at the door.  One free student is admitted per paying adult and additional students are $2 each.  For reservations call 410.398.1790 or e-mail the Society at history@cchistory.org.  The cost for the event is underwritten by the Cecil County Special Events Foundation.
