Cecil County Newspapers

Bound and microfilmed volumes of newspapers, as well as single issues, published in Cecil County since 1823 and the present, constitute a valuable portion of the Society's library. These include Papers such as the Cecil Republican and Farmers and Mechanics Advertiser (Elkton), the Perryville Record, the Midland Journal (Rising Sun), and the Cecil Star (North East). These publications, and many others, are full of local information and they are an oustanding resource for family and local history research since our vast collection of these weeklies and dailies offer great opportunities for researchers who seek another source of information. The Society's Eva M. Muse Library has the largest collection of Cecil County newspapers in any repository and many of these are available on microfilm so click on the links above to determine if we have appropriate titles and dates for your research.
