Preserving Cecil County's History |
|
Since the founding of Maryland’s tenth county in 1674, much has happened to shape Cecil's population. Unsettled portions of the state opened up and new counties were formed. Developed areas split off to form new counties. The nation expanded westward. Wars were fought and new waves of immigrants arrived. An agrarian way of living gave way to the industrial and transportation revolutions.
On these pages, you can see how Cecil's population has changed through the statistical view recorded in the decennial census since 1790 as these pages show the population of Cecil from 1790 to the present. As federal data collection improved, additional population information was provided by the census bureau, such as the population of the election districts and the county's municipalities and we have included representations of that data. |
