Purchasing a Copy of a Photo in the Society's Collection

The photographic holdings of the Historical Society constitute the largest collection of Cecil County images in any repository and they are an excellent resource for researchers, genealogists, students, and others.  Over the decades this collection of thousands of images has grown as the result of generous donations, and it continues to grow.  Dating from the Civil War to the present these shots provide a rich pictorial history of Cecil County, its people, industries, government, vistas, and communities.  The collection embraces visual images in a wide variety of formats.  In addition to early and modern prints, there are daguerrotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes, sterographs, postcards, cabinet cards, films, glass negatives and 35 mm slides.

To make these available to researchers for personal, non-commercial use, the Society is pleased to provide scanned photo images of items in our holdings.  We are able to provide them on a Compact Disk or we can provide the image on photo-quality paper in sizes up to 8 X 10 inches.  If you wish to order a copy of an  item from our collection, please identify the specific print and contact us by e-mail, postal-mail, or by phone.  We charge $15.00 per image for non-members.  For members, we provide the images at a 33-percent saving, which is $10.00 per copy.  This does not include postage and shipping costs, which are added to the price.  All fees charged for photographs help support the Society.  For special use, such as commercial reproductions and publication, you must receive permission to publish the item.
